SHORT BIO

My name is Heavy Lighta, a.k.a H-Lighta, formerly known as Lighta Soundboy. I’m an Afrogerman and Sudanese artist, singer songwriter, rapper, and music producer. I do also play guitar and use keyboards for production. I’m happy to produce music on Linux, with VST-Plugin support for a couple of years now, using the open source DAW Ardour. Big shout out to the open source community! I’m also happy to have a download option in the music player, additionally supporting several crypto currencies. Streaming is for free and ad free.

FAVE OF FAVES

The banner further says “Fave Of Faves” and “Rebel”. The first, because when I was younger, reading about music of “your favorite’s favorite”, I thought: “That music must sound so much cooler than the music of everybody’s favorite” (it’s just what I thought). You know it all starts in the mind… which brings me to the latter.

REBEL

The banner says rebel. I feel like a rebel, because I never felt like saying the things fellow artists were saying on their records, or at least not in the way most popular artists would do – I’m a great fan though. Or maybe I just feel like a rebel because I’m still literally sanctioned, due to parts of my (Sudanese) heritage. This is not a complaint or accusation. It just explains why I probably will keep working towards equity as part of what I do, for the simple fact that it comes in my own people’s interest. I’ve been called privileged too, which is what I also am, and I’m grateful everyday. However, I’m in for the betterment of all people, knowing it starts with myself!

MUSIC

For my music, this means, I want to keep it clean, uplifting, motivating, and nice. I’m not too interested in politics, and I wouldn’t want to make deliberately confusing lyrics. If things are not clear, it’s to inspire listeners to think for themselves and make up their own mind, enabling an experience which might suits their individual stories, regardless of may living a different life.

AFRICA & EQUITY

You know, imagination really does bring people forward and can be a driver of equity as well, in the sense of economic equality. I truly speak to everybody and particularly to my African people, as I’ve seen so much potential in Africa. Besides an overall, unmatched kindness, and genius in grassroots organization, I also witnessed too high expectations on politics and foreign actors, as well as lack of highly motivated self-starters with an original vision – speaking for Sudan imho. Even if I can’t deny doing this for myself, I’d be glad to inspire people towards thinking bigger, becoming more pro-active in solving bigger problems, drawing their own conclusions, and standing on that – as long as they think they are right, based on spirituality, seeking of knowledge, and free thinking. This is what I believe is driving true wealth and equity. I’d wanted to live in that kind of society.

It’s not all that serious when I do music though, but there you have some keywords 🙂

Lots of talking but few up for the action. It’s not me alone in for the betterment, face in the storm. Producing sustainable, uplifting music comes at a costs.
